Hospital Medical Staff and Board of Directors Donate to Ministerium
JERSEY SHORE—The Jersey Shore Hospital Medical Staff and the Jersey Shore Hospital Board of Directors each made a donation to the Jersey Shore Area Ministerium to purchase food certificates for needy families during Thanksgiving. Each year, the Jersey Shore Hospital Medical Staff makes a $1,000 donation to the Ministerium during the holidays, but with the added stresses of the economy, the hospital’s Board of Directors felt compelled to make a matching donation of $1,000 allowing more local families to be served. The Rev. Ted Van Schoick of the Church of Nazarene, and Pastor Richard Jones of the Jersey Shore Assembly of God (also in Lock Haven), represented the Jersey Shore Area Ministerium in receiving the hospital’s two donations.
Hoping to feed more than 40 families with this money, Van Schoick said that those who are in need and interested in possibly being chosen for the food certificates should speak with their pastor. “This really means a lot (for the community)… we get so many thank-you cards and some people just weep in front of you… they are just so moved,” he added. Board of Directors Chairperson Leroy Keiler, III, and Medical Staff Vice President Dr. John Hunter presented the donations to Van Schoick and Jones on behalf of their respective boards. “Both the hospital’s Board of Directors and Medical Staff have a vested interest in seeing our community prosper, so it was only fitting that they both decide to make matching donations to our area churches in hopes of making the holiday season more enjoyable,” said Jersey Shore Hospital President and CEO Carey Plummer.
