Jersey Shore Hospital Earns Certificate of Excellence
On Mar. 28, Jersey Shore Hospital received a certificate of excellence for employee influenza vaccination and patient safety from the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
This certificate is awarded to select hospitals and facilities that meet or exceed the required 90 percent employee vaccination rate. Jersey Hospital is currently above 93 percent vaccination of its employees and volunteers. This also includes Jersey Shore Medical Associates, Lock Haven University Health Clinic, Tiadaghton Health Service, and Urgent Care at McElhattan staff members.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health reports that through the first 12 weeks of the year, doctor-visits for the flu are down significantly compared to 2011. It is believed by many that the decrease in influenza-like illnesses is likely due to flu shots and employee vaccination programs.
“This is the first year that Jersey Shore Hospital has done this,” said Lori Englert, Employee Health Services Nurse. “It has been a long process but we believe that our employees, patients and the community will all benefit from our vaccination program.”
