Nuclear Medicine Accreditation

Jersey Shore Hospital has been granted a three-year term of accreditation in Nuclear Cardiology and General Nuclear Medicine by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories (ICANL).

Accreditation by the ICANL means that Jersey Shore Hospital has undergone a thorough review of its operational and technical components by a panel of experts.

ICANL accreditation serves as a “seal of approval” that patients can rely on as an indication that the facility has been carefully critiqued on all aspects of its operations considered relevant by medical experts in the field of nuclear medicine.

Nuclear medicine procedures are able to diagnose or rule out diseases in every major organ system in earlier stages than other available medical procedures.

Ed Sowul, Director of Radiology, went on to explain, “This accreditation is great for the hospital and its patients because it demonstrates our focus on performing quality imaging. In today’s environment, most major insurance providers are linking quality standards with reimbursement. Being accredited by ICANL shows that we are meeting those standards and it ensures our patients that we are a facility where they can feel comfortable that they are receiving high-quality healthcare.”
