Unit Clerk Retires After 35 Years of Service
Rella Nease, 72, started as a nurse's aide in 1974, where she worked for 11 years, and then continued her service as a unit clerk in acute care for the next 24 years. Cinde Bower-Stout, director of patient care services, has worked with Nease for the past 15 years and said, "Rella was a calming and stabilizing force in the midst of chaos… she will be greatly missed." So what does Nease plan to do with all this free time on her hands? Well, she just recently got engaged over the Christmas holiday and has plans to do some traveling with her fiancé, Steve. She also plans to get a lot of quality time in with her grandchildren. The hospital celebrated Nease's service and dedication with a going away party at Santino's Restaurant in Jersey Shore, with almost 40 current and retired hospital employees who wanted to show their appreciation. "Rella is a wonderful person and was one of the keystones of (the acute care) unit… she's awesome," said Bower-Stout. You still might see Rella walking the halls of the new hospital, though. She has agreed to work on an as-needed basis (PRN), when the unit needs some extra help. But just in case you miss her here, you could always catch her out on the town cruising around in her blue Corvette. Jersey Shore Hospital is a rural community hospital located in Jersey Shore, Pa, serving residents of Lycoming, Clinton and surrounding counties.
