Woman Dances Weeks After Total Knee Replacement

Jersey Shore, PA (May 18, 2009) - Less than two months after having total-knee replacement surgery, one woman was back on feet… and out on the dance floor.

Marie Pautot, a Jersey Shore resident, was hardly anxious about her recovery from total-knee replacement surgery. In fact, she had both of her shoulders replaced earlier in life, and knew that her care at Jersey Shore Hospital would be top-notch.

Less than two months after her surgery, Pautot and her dancing partner, Donnie Munro, performed the Swing, Cha-Cha and Waltz for the Physical Therapy Department at Jersey Shore Hospital.

Even more incredible is the fact that just three weeks after her surgery, Pautot began dancing again.

Katie Vassallo, Pautot's physical therapist, was just as excited for Pautot's speedy recovery as Pautot was. Vassallo designed specific exercises for Pautot's recovery, which included stair climbing, heel-toe touches, lifting legs with ankle weights and more.

"The care I received at Jersey Shore Hospital was excellent. (Vassallo) was very comforting and I would recommend the Physical Therapy Department here to anyone," said Pautot.
