Jersey Shore Hospital Awarded for Quality Health Care

Camp Hill, PA (May 28, 2008) - Jersey Shore Hospital was presented the Critical Access Hospital Improvement in Heart Failure award at the Keystone Health Care Quality Awards banquet for its improvement in the implementation of discharge instructions for patients with heart failure. The awards program is sponsored by Quality Insights of Pennsylvania, the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization for the Commonwealth.

Jersey Shore Hospital was designated as a Critical Access Hospital by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in 2001. Through the implementation of various measures while working with Quality Insights, including physician and staff education and the development of instruction forms and medication lists, the Hospital now reports giving over 95% of heart failure patients discharge instructions.

Quality Insights of Pennsylvania, under contract with CMS, protects Medicare patient rights and work collaboratively with hospitals and other health care providers in Pennsylvania to assist them in the efforts to improve the quality of care they deliver.
