Jersey Shore Hospital R.N. Receives Patient Safety Award

Jersey Shore, PA (June 18, 2007) - Jersey Shore Hospital has announced that Pam Williams, R.N., of Brookside, is the recipient of its Employee Patient Safety Award. Pam, a Registered Nurse in the Critical Care Unit at Jersey Shore Hospital for 15 years, was not on duty the day she went above and beyond to help another staff member.

During a visit to the Hospital's Radiology Department for some personal testing, Pam overheard Hospital staff members calling for assistance. Her instincts overcame her and she immediately responded to offer help. Radiology Technologist, Cathy Corman was rushing to assist a co-worker who was suffering from a medical emergency. "Pam never hesitated, she came to the assistance of someone who needed help," says Corman. "It was a moment when time was not on our side and without Pam the situation could have become even more serious." Corman nominated Williams for the award.

"Jersey Shore Hospital supports Patient Safety Initiatives and dedicates activities to recognizing staff." said Betsy Crossley, Vice President of Nursing Administration.

A surprise celebration was held for Williams as she received the award. She was presented with a certificate of appreciation and a gift certificate for a day at a spa.
