Sanford Family Donates $45,000 to Jersey Shore Hospital

Jersey Shore, PA (June 1, 2007) - Dr. Frederic Sanford presented a second check to Jersey Shore Hospital officials this week, bringing the contribution from him and his sister, Mary Louise Sanford Beckley, to a total of $45,000. This contribution is of historical nature as the Sanford's grandfather, Dr. Frederic Goodman Sanford began operations at the Sanford Private Hospital on Walnut Street, Jersey Shore in 1913. In 1938 the Sanford Private Hospital merged with the Jersey Shore Hospital to become one "Community Hospital."

"The Sanfords have a long and honored history here in Jersey Shore and we are proud to continue to be a part of that history. This contribution from Dr. Sanford and Mrs. Sanford Beckley provides Jersey Shore Hospital with a historical benchmark that the Sanford vision and mission are still in practice today," said Lee Farnell, Interim President & CEO of the Hospital. "We are so appreciative of this contribution and will continue to remember the foundation upon which our Community Hospital began."
