JSH Senior Diners Enjoy Holiday Dinner

December 21, 2005 (Jersey Shore) - The Wheeland Center in Jersey Shore was the place to be on Tuesday, December 13th. Nearly 150 “Senior Diners” from Jersey Shore Hospital’s dining program enjoyed their annual holiday dinner in a new way. In past years, the Senior Diners have enjoyed their holiday feast on one of two nights at the hospital. Beginning a new tradition, the event was held on one night at the larger location. “We wanted to accommodate all of our diners in one location on one night. It is important that we all enjoy each others company and spread cheer together, instead of breaking the event up into two nights,” says Maryanne Elliott, Director of Dietary Services for Jersey Shore Hospital.

Diners enjoyed hors d’ oeuvres, a beverage table, a full course holiday meal and a dessert table. Holiday music was provided by the Fairplay Brass Band of Jersey Shore. The Youth Group from Crossroads Community Church in Jersey Shore served meals along with Hospital Staff. A visit from Santa topped off the evening and each diner received a goodie bag.

The Senior Dining program at Jersey Shore Hospital is open to anyone over the age of 55. Currently the program serves over 200 meals per week. The program was designed to provide a balanced and nutritional meal while also serving as a social outing for senior community members.
