Feese Presents Grant to Jersey Shore Hospital
Funding helps bring state-of-the-art, life-saving technology to region
JERSEY SHORE - Praising the high quality of health care available in the region, Rep. Brett Feese (R-Lycoming) today presented Jersey Shore Hospital officials with a $100,000 grant from the state Department of Public Welfare (DPW).
The grant will partially reimburse the hospital for substantial investments made to bring new and better technology to the facility.
"We are blessed with many talented doctors and nurses who are dedicated to serving their patients, and we are also blessed with health care providers and administrators who are always looking for ways to do things better," Feese said. "I commend everyone at Jersey Shore Hospital for their commitment to patient care and for pursuing this funding to help bring state-of-the-art technology to our rural area."
Among the recent technology upgrades to be funded by the grant is a new Radiology Information System that allows for electronic patient registration, test ordering and results reporting, as well as more timely access to patient test results. Other upgrades include new video colonoscope equipment, improved stress testing technology, and several new PCs to support a new in-house network and e-mail system to improve communication and availability of information.
"The timing for this grant could not have been better for Jersey Shore Hospital," says Lou Ditzel, President & CEO for Jersey Shore Hospital. "This grant allowed the Hospital to address several important technology issues that would not have been possible this fiscal year without the help and support of Brett Feese. The benefits to patients are immeasurable."
Jersey Shore Hospital was founded in the early 1900s and throughout its history has maintained a remarkable reputation for providing compassionate care and advanced technology to best serve its patients.
