New MRI Scanner Offers Jersey Shore Hospital
Patients the Latest in Diagnostic Capabilities from GE Medical Systems
Jersey Shore, PA (July 17, 2003) - Jersey Shore Hospital has acquired the latest in MRI technology from GE Medical Systems. "The new Signa Infinity MRI reinforces the Hospital's commitment to provide state-of-the-art technology for its patients," says Rachael Ulmer, spokesperson for the Hospital.
The new GE Signa Infinity (1.5T) system is capable of performing advanced cardiac and vascular procedures as well as more routine testing such as brain and spinal imaging. The Infinity features one of the most advanced magnet designs available, crucial for obtaining high quality images. The system is also upgradeable allowing JSH to maintain the latest technology for many years ahead.
The Signa Infinity system was chosen not only for its technological superiority but also for its large, flared, shore bore design. The system significantly reduces patient anxiety and claustrophobia without reducing image quality, as is the case with many "open" MRI systems using lower-field magnets. "We made the decision to acquire a new fixed magnet in order to support growing patient needs," notes Lou Ditzel, President and CEO of JSH. "The Signa Compliments the Hospital's Radiology Department, which acquired a new GE Lightspeed CT Scanner last year. We place a priority on advanced technology, especially technology that is often called upon in emergent situations."
