Youth Group Donates Teddy Bears to Jersey Shore Hospital
Jersey Shore (June 3, 2003) - Jersey Shore Hospital received a cuddly donation to their Emergency Room last week. The Avis United Methodist Church Youth Group donated more than 50 teddy bears to the hospital to be given to children who visit the ER. "The teddy bears are a great way to help ease fear and anxiety when children visit our ER," says Rachael Ulmer, Director of Public Relations for Jersey Shore Hospital. "The youth group has made a very generous and thoughtful donation."
The idea began while Lauran Woodring was discussing fundraising ideas with her peers. Lauran is a member of the Youth Group and thought the idea would be fun for her church. The group organized "bring a teddy to church day" for one Sunday where Congregation members were asked to bring one teddy bear as a donation. The teddy drive was a great success and the Youth Group was able to provide bears to the Jersey Shore Police as well as the hospital.
