Jersey Shore Hospital Now Offering Osteoporosis Treatment Reclast
Jersey Shore, PA (April 21, 2008) - For individuals suffering from Osteoporosis, treatment can be tedious. Jersey Shore Hospital has now begun offering the prescription Reclast. Reclast is the only FDA-approved, once-a-year treatment for postmenopausal osteoporosis patients. The annual IV treatment will help protect from fractures and strengthen bones for an entire year. Reclast must be prescribed by a physician and is administered by a nurse or physician.
Jersey Shore Hospital recently began the treatment due to physician requests. The treatment takes approximately 15 minutes and is given in the Same Day Surgical Unit. Proven to bind directly to bones to help protect fractures for up to one year, the IV treatment bypasses the digestive system and goes immediately to work strengthening the bones. Reclast is covered by Medicare and most other health insurance plans.
More than 10 million people in the United States have been diagnosed with Osteoporosis, 80 percent of them women.
